ChefHack features dairy- and gluten-free sauces, take-out options

Chefhack, a line of dairy-free and gluten-free retail sauces along with a takeout-only menu featuring vegan and gluten-free options, has launched in the west end.

Sauces are available at The Bella Market — Bella Bistro’s food shop with an entrance off the Bella parking lot — and will soon be available at select retail stores. The takeout menu is currently available Tuesdays only with pickup at the Bella Market, or delivery through Skip the Dishes and Uber Eats.

“While working busy takeout nights during the pandemic, and cooking for kids constantly at home, I relied on a few of our bistro sauces for easy additions to meals at home — the thai sauce for chicken dishes, sesame lemongrass aioli for sandwiches and dips, etc.,” explained Bethany Champagne, co-owner of Bella Bistro and Bella Market, and founder of ChefHack. “I wanted to make more sauces available to simplify home-cooking — each sauce functioning as a dressing and marinade, as well for easy additions to meals.”

“The takeout menu incorporates these sauces and offers people some amazing vegan and gluten-free options made with high-quality ingredients,” she continued, listing organic Canadian tempeh, Primal Growth organic sprouts, Burt’s Greenhouses microgreens, along with Enright Beef brisket and Fogo Island cod, which she said can be very hard to find on takeout menus.

ChefHack launched only days ago and currently works well as a natural expansion of Bella Market. The menu is available for pre-order for parties and events, and ChefHack will be participating in a number of pop-ups around the city, along with the Tuesday takeouts.

The menu is currently available on Tuesdays from 4 to 9 p.m. for pick up at the Bella Market, at the side door of 4050 Bath Road, but Champagne said they plan to expand availability in the new year. Delivery is available, also only on Tuesdays, through Skip the Dishes and Uber Eats.
