Celebrate summer solstice with Calliope Collective

End the longest day of the year outdoors with an evening of enchantment and intrigue in Doug Fluhrer Park.

Produced by Calliope Collective, ‘Midsummer’s Eve – A Community Summer Solstice Celebration’ invites those of all ages to join in the fun, marking the summer solstice and the first quarter of the Strawberry/Honey Moon. Puppets, faeries, and a variety of characters set the scene to create a safe and sacred space for earth-based traditions.

“We will witness the Holly and Oak Kings compete once again for the praise of the goddess, and honour Mother Earth through a theatrical, community-based performance,” Calliope Collective says.

The event takes place from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and is open to all, free of charge. While there will not be a bonfire at this year’s summer solstice event, Calliope Collective welcomes a traditional fire-keeper to tend the sacred fire. Attendees are invited to bring offerings for the ancestors, and the land, water, and sky. Please note that only organic matter will be placed on the fire.
