Cause of Fraser Street fire currently under investigation

Kingston Fire and Rescue have called in other authorities following a structure fire in downtown Kingston in the very early morning hours today.

The fire broke out at 156 Fraser Street just after 12 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019. Firefighters worked quickly to knock down the fire, but remained on scene ensuring all hot spots were extinguished.

Kingston Fire and Rescue returned to the residence shortly after 8:30 a.m., and Kingston Police were called to assist with the investigation at approximately 11:38 a.m. Shortly thereafter, Kingston Fire and Rescue contacted the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office to assist further.

All three agencies remained on the scene this afternoon, and were still present at time of press (2:30 p.m.). The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
