A fire that took place at Kimco Steel is currently still under investigation as Kingston Fire and Rescue works to determine the cause.

The fire broke out just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019 in the warehouse of the John Counter Boulevard business. According to Ted Posadowski, Chief Fire Prevention Officer with Kingston Fire and Rescue, the warehouse contained several large cardboard containers of scrap copper and other metal, and approximately 30 of the containers were affected by the fire.

No one was injured in the blaze, but heavy smoke could be seen billowing from the building as Kingston Fire and Rescue crews worked to extinguish the fire. The cost of the damages from the fire is estimated at $5,000.

“The cause of the fire is undetermined, but still under investigation,” Posadowski said.
