Cataraqui Centre reducing hours in response to COVID-19

While KFLA Public Health says there are still no known cases of COVID-19 in Kingston, the Cataraqui Centre is reducing its hours as a precautionary measure.

“The safety and well-being of our guests, tenants, employees and contractors is of the utmost important (sic) to Primaris, Cataraqui Centre,” mall administration said in a public notice.

“In addition to the elevated cleaning program already in place, we will be instituting modified operating hours to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We continue to monitor this situation very closely. We thank you for your co-operation and understanding as we navigate these challenging times together.”

Starting on Monday, March 16th, the mall’s hours of operation will change to:

Monday – Friday – 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Saturday – 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Sunday – 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM

In addition to the reduced hours, the mall says it is also instituting the following protocols as an elevated response to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus:

1. Temporary removal of food court trays;
2. Temporarily suspending the use of Cataraqui Centre strollers, wheelchairs, and walkers at Guest Services;
3. Suspending use of water fountains and water bottle fill stations.

  • Shortened hours- I can’t see how this will make a difference! People need to use proper hygiene anyway!!!!

  • Another mall/store encouraging the fear. The more you try to protect people from a non-existent issue in Kingston as yet, the more fear people have. Act like normal. Give your employees rubber gloves and put in sanitation stations.

    • So what the malls and all these other stores are saying is what – you can’t contract covid-19 between the hours of 11am and 7pm ect. ect. Instead get the message out there to be clean about yourself and after yourself. Sanitize, only way germs can live is if things are not properly sanitized. Cleanliness has always been the right answer throughout history. Reduced dont do crap to kill a virus. Just sayin

  • Bring back original. Sears. , Kmart. ZELLER. The bay. In the mall.

  • brian wilson… wth are you talking about? what relevance does bring back stores have to do with the virus… give your head a shake
