Car carrier driver deceased after collision on 401 west of Kingston

Frontenac OPP are investigating after a car carrier laden with vehicles left the roadway on the the 401 near Kingston, ending up in the ditch on the north side of the highway.

OPP say the transport left the westbound lanes of the highway near Westbrook, just west of Kingston, at around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23.

According to police, the driver, a 71-year-old male from Lakeshore, ON, was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

OPP did not specify whether the driver perished as a result of injuries sustained in the collision, or whether the driver suffered a medical issue which contributed to the collision.

OPP set up lane restrictions for several hours while they investigated. Anyone with information regarding the collision is asked to contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
