Calls from concerned citizens result in multiple charges for impaired driver

Thanks to multiple calls from concerned citizens, officers from the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired driving.

Just before 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, the L&A OPP responded to multiple reports of a possible impaired driver on Highway 7 eastbound at Kaladar. According to a release from the OPP, officers patrolled for the vehicle and located it parked on Highway 7 between Arden Road and Hughes Road in Central Frontenac Township.

A male and a female were present in the vehicle, police shared. After talking with police, the male driver was arrested for impaired driving and obstruction.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Rebar Hussein, age 41, of Dundas, Ontario, with:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol/drugs
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit
  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Three counts of operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

Hussein was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee on another date. Their licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
