A resident of Odessa is facing impaired driving charges after creating a bit of a scene at the Napanee Fairgrounds over the weekend.

According to a release from the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers were on patrol in Napanee when they observed a vehicle leaving the fairgrounds doing a burnout and fishtailing the vehicle at approximately 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023.

The OPP said that officers stopped the vehicle and determined that the male driver was showing signs of impairment. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported back to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of this investigation, L&A County OPP has charged Theren Huff Hauseux, age 19, of Odessa, with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit
  • Operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol/drugs

The individual was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee later this month. Their licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
