Building fire displaces multiple residents

A fire in an apartment building on Adelaide Street on the night of January 5th displaced several residents and caused extensive damage to at least one unit.
At approximately 11:20 P.M. emergency services from Kingston Fire & Rescue and Frontenac Paramedics responded to the address of 15 Adelaide Street for a reported structure fire inside one of the apartments.
According to residents of the building, the hallways were filled with smoke when the alarms started sounding, and at least two people were treated by paramedics for possible smoke inhalation.
Kingston Transit was requested to attend the scene in order to provide shelter to those affected by the fire, and the Canadian Red Cross was brought in to assist in finding accommodations for the displaced residents.
At this time neither the cause of the blaze nor the dollar cost of the damage have been determined.
