Break-in at SBT Comics and Games just before the New Year

Mark Fardella, owner of SBT Comics and Games in the Bayridge Centre Plaza, arrived at his store on the morning of Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, to discover that he had been the victim of a break-in.

“Today, I arrived to work to a smashed in door and empty display case,” Mark Fardella said in a post on his business Facebook Page. “During a month that I am desperately trying to keep my store alive, where I sit here alone all day waiting for a sale, someone’s selfishness has further crushed my spirits.”

The exact value and exact items that were stolen are still unknown at this time, however, Fardella’s photos reveal a glass showcase, which is typically filled with comic books, video games and other collectors’ items, completely empty, along with a smashed front door.

“Now I get to not only try to recover financially and mentally from two shutdowns but from this as well,” Fardella continued.

SBT Comics remains open today, and will now be open on New Year’s Day, according to the post, in order to allow for cleanup and taking inventory of the full losses.

A GoFundMe has been created for the store which can be accessed here for residents who would like to show their support.
