Boy drowns at Sandbanks Provincial Park

A boy has perished in an apparent drowning at Picton’s Sandbanks Provincial Park on Saturday, July 21st. Javaughn Black, 7-years-old, had been visiting Canada from Jamaica with his mother and sister and had been attending the beach with family and friends.
He was initially reported missing and then was found in the water at around 1:30 p.m., unresponsive and without evident vital signs. He was rushed to Prince Edward Memorial Hospital in Picton by paramedics under police escort, but could not be revived.
The family will be transporting Javaughn’s body back to Jamaica for burial. A GoFundMe page has been created by family friends Justine Ramdowar and Denise Brown-Thomas for anyone who wishes to assist the family in covering the costs of doing so. The donations page can be found here.
