Board of Trustees take Oath of Allegiance at inaugural meeting

The Inaugural Meeting of Limestone District School Board Trustees took place on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018 with some notable guests in attendance.
Elder-in-Residence from Queen’s University, Deb St. Amant; MPP for Kingston and the Islands, Ian Arthur; Mayor of Frontenac Islands, Denis Doyle; Mayor of Township of South Frontenac, Ron Vanderwal; City of Kingston Councillor for Williamsville, Jim Neil; and many other leaders in the community and their family members all gathered at the Limestone Education Centre for the first official meeting of the new Board of Trustees.
The Trustees were officially inaugurated into their roles by taking their Declarations and Oaths of Allegiance.
Director of Education and Secretary of the Board of Trustees Debra Rantz announced that Trustee Suzanne Ruttan was acclaimed as Chair of the Board, and that Trustee Laurie French was elected as Vice-Chair. Both Ruttan and French will bring experience and leadership to the board, Rantz said.
In her inaugural address as Chair, Trustee Ruttan expressed gratitude that many of community leaders attended the evening, and said that she looks forward to a positive relationship with them. She reminded everyone that they are all there for the students, their success, and their achievements, and that those things cannot be done unless everyone works together.
