UPDATE: Cancelled – Bath Road to be closed for CN rehabilitation of rail crossing

Nearly three hours after announcing that Bath Road will be closed to traffic on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the City of Kingston has cancelled the closure notification.
Bath Road will not be closed between Centennial Drive and Queen Mary Road between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the City noted.
“We are pleased to share the road closure has since been cancelled, and full access to Bath Road for vehicles, transit, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained,” the City said.
“The City apologizes for any confusion caused by the earlier notice, and encourages news release subscribers to share this cancellation closure notice with others, and delete the earlier notification from their inboxes.”

Bath Road between Centennial Drive and Queen Mary Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, to allow CN to continue rehabilitation work at the train crossing.
According to a release from the City of Kingston, it has approved a request by CN to close Bath Road to motorists in order for the organization to continue the work which began after a significant derailment took place in that area and closed Bath Road to traffic for multiple days.
During this time, Bath Road will be closed to vehicles including transit between Centennial Drive and Queen Mary Road. Access for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained however cyclists must be prepared to dismount at the track location, according to the release.
Detours for motorists and Kingston Transit will be in place during this time, and access to local businesses will be maintained during the closure, the City noted.
The City of Kingston thanks all affected residents, businesses, pedestrians, motorists, and transit passengers for their patience and understanding during the temporary road closures.
