Backpack Campaign seeking community donations to support local families

The United Way KFL&A are asking for donations to their Backpack Campaign. This annual program provides families and children with backpacks and supplies for each school year.
The United Way says the demand for school supplies is higher than ever and they are using funds typically given to the Backpack Campaign to purchase supplies and distribute them directly to local school boards and agencies in the Kingston community.
Generous donations have already been received from Bell, Costco, Canadian Tire, Staples, and Novelis Inc. With this support and United Way funding, agencies and school boards will distribute backpacks and school supplies directly to children and youth across the region, said the United Way in a release.
Donations of funds or supplies from community members who want to show their local love and help set students up for success this year are welcome.
Those who wish to donate are asked to contact [email protected] or visit www.unitedwaykfla.ca/donate/ and indicate in the box that you’d like your funds directed to the Backpack Program.
