Brittany Runs A Marathon is showing this week at the Screening Room

Welcome back to ‘At the Movies in Kingston’. The box office is about to get more crowded with the addition of a friendly fabled snow monster. 

Here is what’s new at the Kingston theatres for the week starting September 27. 

Landmark Cinemas:

Abominable is the story of a young girl named Yi, who meets a Yeti on the roof of her apartment building and works to bring him home. 

The Friends 25th: The One with the Anniversary event continues with the Saturday showing of classic episodes The One With The Prom Video, The One Where No One’s Ready, The One With The Morning After, The One With The Embryos.

Starting Monday September 30, The Climbers is a retelling of the first Chinese climbers to summit Mount Everest. Presented in Mandarin with English subtitles, this epic story presented on Imax is a can’t miss for any outdoor adventurer.

Cineplex Odeon: 

Judy is an adaptation of the hit Broadway play Over the Rainbow about the legendary singer and actor Judy Garland. Starring Renee Zellweger, the film centers around Garland coming to London in 1969 to perform at the Talk of the Town for a string of sold out concerts. Many critics have applauded this film and Zellweger’s performance. 

Saturday’s family favourite is the 10:00 a.m. showing of the extended version of Spider Man: Far From Home.

The Studio Ghibli fest continues at Cineplex with the 12:55 p.m. Sunday showing of the animated tale The Secret World of Arrietty.

Wednesday October 2 at 7 p.m., Roger Waters Us + Them brings the 2017-2018 Roger Waters concert tour to the big screen.

Abominable also opens this weekend at Cineplex.

The Goldfinch follows the fallout after a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and how a young boy is taken in by a wealthy family after his mother dies in the museum blast.

Ready or Not tells the tale of a bride who learns on her wedding night that her in-laws have a twisted game for her to play. 

Brittany Runs a Marathon is the story of a New York party girl, who finds solace in rebuilding her life while training for the New York City Marathon.

The Kingston Writers Fest is hosting a free event on Saturday September 27. Who is Bruce Kauffman? is an anthology film about Kingston and the growing literary community in the city.
