Amherstview woman charged for impaired driving
Erratic driving in Amherstview led to the arrest and charging of a local woman, who was found to be impaired by alcohol, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
At approximately 2:13 a.m. on Sunday, Mar. 17, 2019, officers with the Napanee Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed erratic driving on Manitou Crescent in Amherstivew. The female driver was stopped, and officers noted the smell of alcohol on the her breath, the OPP said in a press release on Monday, Mar. 18, 2019.
As a result of ensuing investigation, Cindy June Lillian Whan, 25, of Amherstview was arrested and charged with operation of a vehicle while impaired, and operation of a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol in the system under the Criminal Code, as well as a novice driver violation under the Highway Traffic Act.
Whan was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on Tuesday, Apr. 2, 2019.
“OPP are reminding the public that a 90 day automatic drivers licence suspension and a seven day impoundment of your vehicle accompanies an impaired charge,” the OPP said.
