Amherstview driver arrested after vehicle located stuck in ditch

A driver from Amherstivew is facing impaired driving charges after Kingston Police responded to a call for a vehicle stuck in a ditch.
On Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, the accused was driving eastbound on Taylor Kidd Boulevard, according to a release from Kingston Police. Along a straight stretch of Taylor Kidd Boulevard east of Coronation Boulevard, police said the accused drove off the roadway and into the ditch.
At approximately 7 p.m., responding officers located the vehicle apparently undamaged but stuck and requiring a tow to be pulled out of the snow-filled ditch. According to the release, officers observed an open six-pack of alcohol in the vehicle and made observations the driver was impaired by alcohol.
Police said the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to police headquarters to provide breath samples. The accused was found to have more than double the legal limit of alcohol.
A 45-year-old Amherstview individual was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired, and
- Operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit
The driver was later released on conditions with a future court date, police said.
