All-candidates meetings in four townships sponsored by Napanee Chamber of Commerce

In preparation for the Monday, Oct. 24, 2022 municipal elections, the Napanee and District Chamber of Commerce (NDCC) is offering two different ways for people in Lennox and Addington County to get to know their candidates for the townships of Greater Napanee, Loyalist, Addington Highlands, and Stone Mills.
The NDCC will soon become the Lennox and Addington Chamber of Commerce, according to business manager Lisa Bird, so they have expanded election coverage to include townships beyond Greater Napanee this year.
First, the Chamber will host in-person all-candidates meetings in each township. These will take place during the first two weeks of October and give the public an opportunity to hear from the candidates in person and ask questions.
On Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2022, Addington Highlands candidates will meet at Flinton Hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees will be welcome to ask their questions in person that night.
Loyalist Township candidates will meet Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2022, at the Odessa Agricultural Society building from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A meet and greet will take place at 6 p.m. followed by a question period for both the mayor and deputy mayor candidates. Interested participants are asked to submit their questions in advance by emailing Lisa Bird at [email protected].
On Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, a meet and greet for candidates in Greater Napanee will begin at 6 p.m. at the Strathcona Paper Centre. This will be followed by a question period for the deputy mayor candidates, along with a brief speech from Terry Richardson, Napanee’s newly acclaimed incoming mayor. The public can submit questions by emailing Lisa Bird, as above.
On Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022, a Stone Mills all-candidates meeting will take place at Newburgh Hall from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., in partnership with the Friends of the Napanee River Committee and Newburgh Rogues’ Hollow Renewal Committee. Candidates will be asked pre-selected questions and also take questions from the floor.
The NDCC’s second means of acquainting the public with the municipal candidates is to offer candidate profiles on its website. The Chamber has invited every candidate from Stone Mills, Addington Highlands, Loyalist Township, and Greater Napanee to submit a brief introduction video or writeup, followed by answers to four pre-selected questions.
