Everyone loves a fancy night out, sipping champagne and enjoying some gourmet nibbles, but those nights are so much better when they’re in support of a good cause.

That’s precisely why local real estate broker Jessica Hellard is hosting The Forever Gala at The Isabel in support of Kingston Animal Rescue (KAR).

Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, KAR is a volunteer-run, no-kill animal rescue group. KAR “hopes to make a bigger difference for dogs in need” by expanding to Northern communities, Quebec, the United States, and countries beyond with the funds raised at the gala.

“We don’t get the opportunity to locally rescue dogs very often — you don’t see stray dogs running around town,” said Hellard. “However, many people are dog lovers and would adopt instead of buy if they had the chance.”

Hellard described her own experience adopting a dog from an American organization that rescued dogs from Southern states.

“This opened my eyes to the fact there are many unwanted dogs further afield in the Northern communities, down south, and beyond that we could help by bringing to this region,” she expressed.

The theme of the event is a starry dream night, according to Hellard. It was inspired by “the idea that dogs dream too,” she said.

“I like to think that this event will help make doggie dreams come true by helping them into their forever homes,” Hellard said.

The event will feature silent and live auctions, live music, a DJ’d dance, and red carpet photography. All auction proceeds will go entirely to the animals.

The gala will be catered entirely vegan. Hellard said that she felt it was important to provide vegan guests with the opportunity to fully enjoy their meals instead of having a ‘substitution,’ stating that the food will be “excellent regardless,” and that the many guests who aren’t vegan “may have their first vegan experience and really enjoy it because of the quality of the chef’s skills.”

The Forever Gala will take place on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit The Forever Gala event website.
