Fatal collision on 401 westbound near Kingston

The westbound lanes of the 401 near Kingston remained closed for all of Saturday morning and into part of the afternoon following a fatal collision involving a pedestrian overnight.

OPP say a male pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor trailer around 3:50 a.m. this morning in the area near Joyceville Rd.

Detours remained in place until around 1:30 p.m. as OPP Technical Collision Investigators assessed the incident.

OPP have identified the victim as Robert B Gale, a 62 year old male from Prince Edward County, Ontario.

As a result of the investigation, OPP do not anticipate any charges against the transport driver.
