OPP cruiser struck on 401 eastbound near Joyceville

The 401 eastbound was closed on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 near Joyceville, after a vehicle struck an OPP cruiser stopped on the side of the highway.

The collision occurred at around 6:32 a.m. on Highway 401, just east of Deer Ridge Drive and west of Gananoque, while the OPP officer was stopped assisting a motorist following a previous collision.

According to OPP, both the officer and civilian were transported to hospital with injuries. Both are expected to recover.

The roadway remained closed for investigation and cleanup for the entire morning. It was reopened shortly before 12:30 p.m.

    You would think this could have been avoided by keeping your eyes on the road and changing lanes when approaching police and emergency vehicles as we are asked to. No mention of charges?
