$300,000 damage, no injuries in University Ave fire

Kingston Fire & Rescue crews responded to a serious structure fire at a student residence on University Avenue late on Friday night. Firefighters from 3 stations responded with 3 pumpers, a ladder truck and a command vehicle at around 10:30 p.m.

Crews located the fire in the common attic and roof of the semi-detached dwelling. It took fire crews over two hours to ensure all fire was extinguished from areas of the attic, walls and roof.

Residents had evacuated from the units at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. Smoke and fire damage is estimated at $300,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
