graffiti in KingstonIn just 10 days, Kingstonist will be celebrating two years of rocking blogging in the free world.  I’m really getting pumped up for the big day, as we kind of dropped the ball on building up to, and properly celebrating last year’s milestone.  It’s not as though Kingstonist needs to walk down a red carpet, receive the key to the city, or even blow out candles on a cake.  Instead, I think we could settle on a few well wishes, and raise a glass while talking about the driving force behind this site:  the Limestone City.  And of course, I’d be remiss if I did not mention our Big Birthday Contest.

In other news, lately there has been no shortage of topics of interest throughout the community.  While wasting time around the water cooler,  sitting around the dinner table, and traveling to and fro, we’ve been talking about issues such as the demolition of the old Police Station/North Block, the latest options for a third crossing, the rejected housing development in Williamsville, the possibility of social housing near Barriefield Village, the future of the Harold Harvey Arena, and the list goes on.  Let’s not forget the upcoming election of a new Mayor and City Council, which will be here before we know it.

Kingston’s future will undoubtedly be filled with its fair share of challenges, disappointments and triumphs.  Whatever the outcome is, you can rest assured that Kingstonist will do its best to share new and unique perspectives with you.  In return, we hope that you will help and challenge us to grow in a positive direction.  Special thanks to Koopyont for today’s photo, which is but one example from this local photographer’s oustanding portfolio.
