175 Years of Caring: The History of Kingston General Hospital

This year, Kingston General Hospital (KGH) celebrates 175 years of caring for the community. Since its first use as a hospital in November of 1838 when 20 soldiers, wounded during the bloody Battle of the Windmill arrived at its doors in need of care, to its place today as the leading centre for complex-acute and specialty care in Southeastern Ontario, KGH’s history is as varied as it is captivating.
