14 Provincial Offence Notices issued at Gananoque vehicle inspection checkpoint

Last week, officers with the Kingston District Ministry of Transportation as well as the Gananoque Police Service conducted a vehicle inspection checkpoint.

According to a release from Gananoque Police Service, the checkpoint took place in the parking lot of the Lou Jeffries Gananoque & Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands (TLTI) Recreation Centre on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023. Officers were focused on commercial vehicles and vehicles that appeared modified, as well as vehicles that appeared unfit for the roadway.

Gananoque Police Services said that 17 vehicles were inspected, and shared the following details:

  • Eight vehicles pulled out of service
  • Six sets of licence plates seized
  • 14 Provincial Offence Notices issued
  • Out of Service Defects included: no/defective brakes, defective steering system, unsafe load, unsafe frame/body, improper exhaust, improper lights, bald tires
