Nearly two weeks ago we learned that Ted Hsu, Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, will not be running for re-election in 2015. We asked our readers how they felt about this decision and the majority of votes showed that he will be missed.
Late last week, Mayor Mark Gerretsen announced that he will also not be seeking re-election in the upcoming mayoral run, as he has decided to delve into federal politics, looking to fill Ted Hsu’s now vacant position. Below is a video of the Mayor’s speech, which was given Friday afternoon at the Seniors’ Centre.
This week, we want to know:
How do you feel about Mark Gerretsen's decision to leave municipal politics?
- Excited, change is good. (34%, 38 Votes)
- Not sure. (34%, 38 Votes)
- Disappointed. (33%, 37 Votes)
Total Voters: 113
The two major announcements make for exciting political times in Kingston and the Islands. Whether we are happy about these decisions or not, there is no denying that the next couple of elections are sure to be interesting ones to keep an eye on. Drop off a comment below and tell us what you think.
And we'd love to bring you more.
