Numerous unauthorized items were found as a result of the lockdown and exceptional search at Millhaven Institution, which has now ended, according to Correctional Service Canada (CSC).
The lockdown was put in place on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018 in order to carry out the exceptional search. The search was ordered to “ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff members and inmates,” CSC said at the time.
While a press release from CSC and Millhaven Institution stated that “a number of unauthorized items were found during the exceptional search,” no one could be reached for further comment at this time (Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018 at 3:10 p.m.)
Visits to Millhaven Institution have resumed.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
