Local artist Jessica Trotter of Jessica Trotter Designs will be hosting embroidery and block painting workshops at the Seniors Association.

Trotter is looking forward to working with seniors and keeping them engaged with the arts community. She said she finds it amazing that people who have so much experience in life are willing to learn from her, someone who is just starting her life and career. Trotter feels honoured by this opportunity.

The workshops will take place on Friday, January 18, 2019 and Friday, February 22, 2018 at the Seniors Association on 56 Francis St.

Trotter’s teaching style is unique. She likes to show her students that everyone has their own style and they should appreciate it and love it for what it is. She said she does not compare her own work to other artists because everyone expresses art in their own way.

Trotter’s goal during her workshops is to help people get through the workshop and learn the best technique that works for them. She always keeps in mind that everyone has a different learning style and she tries to accommodate it as best as she can. Trotter also tries to get everyone on the same page by moving at the pace of her slowest student and is always willing to stay behind to show her students how to do specific stitches or answer any questions they may have.

Trotter hosts workshops that are open to the community. Visit her website to learn more about her workshops.
