#ygkChallenge: Lessons Learned and Loved

H'Art Centre, Lessons Learned and Loved, art exhibit, Kingston, OntarioThe #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkchallenge encourages you to:

Support H’Art Centre’s 20th anniversary performance. Kingston’s H’Art Centre, an arts hub where people with disabilities create, study, and produce works in the arts, was established in 1998 by artist Katherine Porter. With their 20th anniversary just around the corner, Porter and H’Art Centre artists have worked to create a side-by-side exhibit of new acrylic works that reflect on the the joy that the centre has brought to many over the last two decades. In this time, H’Art has introduced more than 17,000 people to the creative abilities of people with disability, trained over 400 volunteers, fostered over 40 community arts collaborations, and engaged more than 100 professional artists. This week, we want you to support H’Art’s Lessons Learned and Loved exhibit, which takes place on November 18th and 19th at THE BOX at H’Art Centre, located at 237 Wellington St. (in the GoodLife Fitness building). The exhibit runs from 2pm-4pm on Saturday, November 18th, with a special announcement at 3pm; and again on Sunday, November 19th from 9am-11am.

Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
