Just over a week ago we announced our ninth Greatest Photo Contest, which encouraged local photographers to submit their best pics of Kingston and Kingstonians to our ever-growing Flickr group. Last weekend, we took on the difficult task of narrowing down the submissions to eight finalists. Once again, it’s up to you, our readers, to help us choose the best photo. As always, Kingstonist appreciates the efforts of all those who’ve joined and continue to upload photos to our Flickr group. Remember, we use the group regularly as a source for photos, so even if your piece wasn’t selected or doesn’t win the top prize, there’s a good chance we’ll find a way to feature it in the not too distant future.
The scaled photos below are all linked to the originals on Flickr. We highly recommend you click through to see them all in high resolution. In no particular order, the finalists are:
Poker Run by Ian Dixon (left). Greens in the Glowming by Christopher Howitt (right).
1971 Corvette by Sean Hickman (left). Autumn Train by Tom Rutledge (right).
Fort Henry Tattoo 2014 by Memories Done Wonderfully (left). Murney Tower by Xiaowen Chen (right).
Tetra by Peter Wolf (left). Bird Reading Tweets by Jean-Guy Pitre (right).
My pick for Kingstonist's Greatest Photo is:
- Jean-Guy Pitre (26%, 38 Votes)
- Tom Rutledge (25%, 36 Votes)
- Ian Dixon (16%, 23 Votes)
- Xiaowen Chen (12%, 18 Votes)
- Peter Wolf (10%, 14 Votes)
- Memories Done Wonderfully (6%, 8 Votes)
- Christopher Howitt (3%, 5 Votes)
- Sean Hickman (2%, 3 Votes)
Total Voters: 145
Voting will be open until midnight on December 11th. The photographer with the most votes will win a $50 gift certificate to Kingston Frameworks or Camera Kingston. The winner will be announced on Friday, December 12th.
Can we count on your support of as little as $2/month to keep us going?
