Wolfe Island Ferry, Kingston, OntarioHappy Friday! It’s hard to believe that the first month of 2011 is already coming to a close. Where does the time go?  In next to no time February will be here and gone, and it will be time to celebrate Kingstonist’s third birthday!  On that note, today I would like to share and tease you with some of the projects we’re working on and will be unveiling over the next few weeks in conjunction with our annual festivities on the 2nd of March.

Similar to last year’s Big Birthday Contest, we’ll be running another grandiose competition that will challenge our readers’ ability to identify places and things from around the the Limestone City, as well as answer various bits of Kingston trivia. While we’ve yet to finalize all of this year’s skill testing questions, I can honestly say what we’ve got thus far is more challenging than any contest we’ve unleashed in the past.  And of course, the top prize(s) for our third Big Birthday Contest will be well worth your efforts, so keep an eye out.

In 2011 we’ve made significant improvements to our publication schedule, which has enabled our writers to cover a more diverse array of topics of interest.  Moreover, it has also saved us the unfortunate hassle of having to produce good quality content at the last minute.  You may have noticed that we’ve added a new ‘releases‘ category, which serves as a repository for the most important city-wide information bulletins.  These small advances are a part of a larger development scheme that includes better organization of content categories, an updated look and feel for Kingstonist, as well as a host of new and useful features.  What features are you hoping to see? Unfortunately you’ll have to wait until our birthday to see what we’ve got in store.

The team has also been doing our best to ensure that Kingstonist is better represented out in the Limestone City.  Whether you’re at a Kingston Symphony concert or taking part in ReelOut12 over the next 10 days, you’ll likely notice our logo or ad on their respective programs and other bits of media.  Similarly, you’ll be hearing about, and seeing more of these organizations and other positively-minded local area businesses on Kingstonist.  On that note, if you’re interested in pursuing an in-kind exchange or something more elaborate, please get in touch.

That should be enough to whet your appetite for what’s in store for Kingstonist.  We’ve got a few more things up our sleeves, but I’ll try not to spill the beans too much before the big reveal.  Thanks to Koopyont for today’s photo.  And now, let the weekend begin.

We hope you've valued the Kingston news perspectives we've brought you...

And we'd love to bring you more.
