#ygkChallenge: The Kick & Push Festival

ygkchallenge, The Kick and Push Festival, Kingston, OntarioThe #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkchallenge encourages you to:

Interact with The Kick & Push Festival. The 2017 Kick & Push Festival got going last Saturday night with a performance of Kid Koala’s Silliest Show on Earth at The Grand Theatre. Over the next two weeks, the festival will continue with a great line up of original theatre. This year’s festival includes mystery venues, outdoor performances and immersive, interactive shows. This week, we challenge you to have a look at our Guide to Kick & Push 2017 and make plans to take in some of these incredible performances. Get involved by joining in on the sporting fun with Monday Nights, a show about basketball – interact with the cast, take photos and videos and maybe even get a chance to show off your slam dunk! You can also follow James Smith as he tunes pianos in various Kingston locations, while he explores the concept of equal temperament as well as his three older brothers’ mental illnesses in Lessons in Temperament. Head to Market Square for an outdoor performance of Othello, preceded by the timely Cyprus Project, a special audio installation based on stories surrounding the Cyprus war of 1974, one of the longest overseas peacekeeping missions in our county’s history. In its third year, this festival is picking up some serious momentum so get your tickets now!
