Wonderland Escape Rooms & Board Game Lounge opens in Kingston’s west end

Wonderland Escape Rooms & Board Game Lounge has just opened at the Gardiners Town Centre, providing a new family-friendly entertainment experience in the Kingston community.

Wonderland is owned and run by the amazing and passionate young women who are also responsible for creating Improbable Escapes in downtown Kingston back in 2015. This new venture received a lot of local support, says owner Melissa Eapen. “It’s been a whirlwind adventure this past year trying to get this business up and running. We’ve had a lot of local support, ranging from donations of different board games, supplying and designing our space, and so much more.”

Eapen says that choosing Kingston to open a business was an easy decision, as Kingston’s market is unique. “We picked Kingston to open our first business in 2015 based on market research and a strong gut feeling, and we’re so happy we did. Almost five years later, our second business is born, and we’re excited to see where the next five years takes us!”

Wonderland is an ideal choice for unique dates, a fun outing with friends, or a family game night. True to its name, the space is designed to look as if you’ve actually fallen down the rabbit hole and found yourself in Alice’s Wonderland. There are many games to choose from, with a helpful board game menu to assist with your choice. If you really can’t decide, their board game experts are very knowledgeable about the games – they offered great suggestions during my visit.

Wonderland’s escape room is unique, well thought out, and challenging. Without giving you any major hints or spoilers, the current escape room involves destroying an apple – you’ll have to check it out and find out why (and how!) for yourself.

Once you’ve escaped, you can toast your success with a drink at the café – I highly recommend the caesar. Wonderland’s café offers a delicious bistro-style menu and a brunch menu on weekends. The menu has a variety of sandwiches, desserts, and shareables. The “Forest Dweller Flatbread” is phenomenal.

To top all off, you can buy some board games and take the fun home with you!

This is a true rabbit-hole adventure at a family-friendly café that you’ll be glad you visited. Wonderland is open until 11p.m. on weekdays, and until midnight on weekends. Visit their website for more details.
