#ygkChallenge: Empty Bowls

Empty Bowls, Martha's Table, Kingston, OntarioThe #ygkChallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkChallenge encourages you to:

Help Fill an Empty Bowl. The 17th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser is scheduled to take place this Sunday at The Queen’s University Club. For $35, diners choose from a menu of gourmet soups served with a roll from a local bakery in a handmade pottery bowl, which is theirs to keep. This fundraiser helps supports Martha’s Table, who offers healthy meals and a warm, friendly space for those in need. With last year’s Empty Bowls raising $21,000 for Martha’s, this week, we challenge you to head to Martha’s Table, Carmelinda’s or Tara Natural Foods to pick up your tickets and play a part in this very worthy cause. By filling your bowl with delicious soup, you’re ensuring that Martha’s Table can do the same for many others throughout the year.

Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
