Now that we are well into the throes of the 2015 NHL Play-offs, and local spring sports leagues are starting up, many of us are searching for the perfect place to cheer on our favourite team or hang out after a soccer or baseball game. When it comes to finding a suitable hangout, our sights are typically set on local bars and pubs, and the grub they offer is usually a deciding factor. One of the most popular and common menu items at these establishments is the timeless, simple and saucy chicken wing. With so many establishments offering up their own variation of this standard menu item, just where do you go for the best chicken wings in Kingston?
While many pubs and restaurants in Kingston serve chicken wings, truthfully not all wings are created equal, nor do they deserve to be called the best chicken wings in Kingston. Some kitchens go the very traditional route, offering pre-packaged sauces of varying heats, and good ol’ honey garlic. Others, like the Kingston Brewing Company, are known for their own special homemade sauce (Ghetto Sauce in this case), Dingaling’s (who specializes in wing creation) touts adventurous flavours like Fiery Thai and Pineapple Curry, and some places add an extra crunch by breading their wings before frying. Whatever your preference, there are dozens of local options when it comes to this delicious finger food. The wide array of choices made it very difficult for us to narrow down the options on the list, so we decided to stick with some of the best locally owned establishments (and there are still 10 of them!) While we’re sure great wings can be found at Tir nan Og, Jack Astor’s and Wild Wing, we want to show some love for our YGK restaurateurs and focus specifically on them. Pass the blue cheese, carrots, celery and wet naps as we determine:
