#ygkChallenge: Advance The GROW Project

ygkchallenge, AdVANce The GROW Project, Loving Spoonful, Kingston, OntarioThe #ygkchallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkchallenge encourages you to:

Advance The GROW Project. Loving Spoonful works passionately to achieve a healthy, food-secure community in Kingston the and surrounding area through fresh food access, gardens, community kitchens and educational programs. Their school-garden based GROW Project provides grade 4 to 8 students at 12 Kingston schools with hands-on workshops where they plant, raise, and harvest vegetables while learning values of stewardship, and responsibility. To support this initiative Loving Spoonful is seeking donations in support of the GROW van. Donors can choose to (virtually) sponsor a specific part of the vehicle, or leave it up to Loving Spoonful. The end result will enable the continuity of classroom workshops, the fence mural project, and student-led donations of the produce they’ve raised to local shelters and meal programs. Donate here.

Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
