KCFF. Music in the movies: Film scoring panel

March 6 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Hey, musicians, harness your inner Ennio Morricone and join us to learn more about writing music for the movies!

In KCFF’s Film Scoring Panel, we’ll be joined by Martin Macphail, member of the award-winning trio Blitz//Berlin who have worked on films like BirdBox, The Girl On The Train, Bad Times At The El Royale, Fifty Shades of Grey, Top Gun: Maverick, and the Blade Runner 2049 prequel Nexus Dawn.

We’ll also be joined by Australian-Canadian composer Michelle Osis and music producer, film + tv composer Terry Benn. Michelle and Terry scored the music for BLOODTHIRSTY which plays at the Fest this year!

Moderated by SOCAN A&R Rep Melissa Cameron-Passley, the discussion will help those looking to get started in film scoring by providing an overview of important first steps. We’ll also get to know our panelists and how they broke into the film world as musicians. And, of course, there will be lots of opportunities to participate – so come equipped with your own questions!

We’re offering this workshop for free (just be sure to support the film BLOODTHIRSTY) but please order a complimentary ticket in advance to reserve your spot.

* This is a panel discussion workshop presented via Livestream. Please pre-order a free ticket to access the event.
