Coldest Night of the Year fundraising walk

January 28 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) is nation-wide fundraising walk that raises money for charities serving hungry, homeless, and hurting people in our community. This year’s walk is on Saturday, February 23 in Kingston. Locally, CNOY supports nightlight Canada – a charity that addresses relational poverty through it’s adult drop-in centre.

nightlight depends on this fundraising event to raise the necessary funds to meet its financial obligations throughout the year. Unfortunately, in 2018, they were evicted from their store-front location at 666 Princess Street, since the building is going to be demolished. They have been struggling to find a suitable and affordable new location ever since. The increase in rent since we were looking in 2012 is making their search challenging. This year more than ever, this fundraising walk is essential so they can have the resources they need to secure a new lease. In the meantime, they have been meeting at Next Church (89 Colborne Street) twice a week. They are grateful to have somewhere to continue our drop-in hours, but are keen to get settled in a more permanent location. This type of disruption can be difficult for their guests who tend to rely on a consistent and familiar routine.
