A musical comedy! The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a charming musical comedy, with music and lyrics by William Flinn and Tony award-winning book by Rachel Sheinkin. The story follows a group of eager youngsters as they compete in their county spelling bee, all the while combating the trials of being a 12-year-old: puberty (groan), allergies (gasp!), bullies (eep!), and of course, pressure to be good at something (sound familiar?). Have you ever wondered if beekeeping is for you? What exactly is involved in cultivating a hive that produces honey and other products? And what would happen to world food crops if bees keep dying off? Harley Gallagher of the Limestone Beekeepers Guild will give a talk on beekeeping at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, at our Isabel Turner branch. Harley will speak on his experiences as a beekeeper and the role of the Guild, as well as ways for non-beekeepers to support honey bees and native pollinators. Murder on the Nile: Kay Ridgeway has led a charmed life. Blessed with beauty, enormous wealth, and a new husband, she embarks on a honeymoon voyage down the Nile. Fatal circumstances await when the idyllic surroundings are shattered by the shocking and brutal murder. Under scrutiny is a multitude of memorable passengers, all with a reason to kill.
