Studio 22 Open Gallery is pleased to present Colour Blast; a collection of new abstract work by Kingston artist Erika Olson. Erika Olson’s new solo exhibition features a return to the large colourful abstracts which marked the early days of her painting career. After more than a dozen years urgently examining the everyday objects of domesticity and producing the sumptuous still lives for which she has become known, Olson’s work has come full circle. Studio 22 Open Gallery is honoured to exhibit Remnants: finding beauty in transience and decay, the latest body of work by local artist Debra Krakow, opening Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Working from her picturesque Wolfe Island home studio, artist and architect Debra Krakow watches the seasons unfold. Lush greens give way to the riotous ochres and siennas of autumn, before succumbing to the hush of winter’s mantle of white. These weathered landscapes, the evidence of time’s passage, inspire Krakow’s layered, and often expansive and abstracted, canvases. Homes For The Holidays is happening at KHS on Sunday, December 3 from 10am-2pm. Take advantage of reduced adoption fees for all spayed/neutered cats and kittens, pick up a Christmas tree or wreath, and enjoy a free cup of cider while taking part in a guided shelter tour! Chocolates, calendars, KHS merchandise, and more will be available for purchase, with proceeds from the day going back to help shelter animals in need! Mascall: Grunge Ryan: Equilateral Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 5 On December 3, 2017 at 2:30 pm at the Isabel, the Gryphon Trio makes a triumphant return to the Kingston Symphony stage to perform Jeffrey Ryan’s triple concerto, Equilateral. Richard Mascall's mesmerizing rhythmic work "Grunge" and Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Fifth Symphony, filled with bold, romantic melodies and rich orchestration, round out this afternoon program.
