We here at Kingstonist believe that Kingstonist is by Kingstonians, for Kingstonians, and with that in mind, we’re excited to launch our newest feature: The Kingstonist Community Editorial Board.
If you have strong, well-informed opinions about local matters, we want to hear from you! We want to know how members of this community feel about the things that matter most to them: politics, the environment, local business, community events and programs – whatever passions those in Kingston wish to speak about. And then: we want to publish them.
With that, we are issuing an open call for Kingstonist Community Editorial Board members. We’d like to open this opportunity up to seven to ten people who would like to write about the important things they feel are impacting Kingston, and share those views with the community.
Sure, we, as owners, may not agree with all the opinions this endeavour will bring forward – and that’s perfect! Because Kingston isn’t about one person’s opinion, it’s about the views we all have and those views being heard. It’s about listening to one another and moving forward towards a better Kingston together. It’s about being informed, whether that be from the Mayor of Kingston when one of us sits down to interview him, or from the lovely woman at the end of your street who’s lived here four decades longer than you and has a completely different view about what makes Kingston awesome – or awful, depending on the subject.
So if you want to join Kingstonist in bringing editorial content from Kingston to Kingston, please submit a brief bio and a sample piece of writing to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line: Community Editorial Board.
And we promise: No group of people making decisions in another city will have any say in the matter.
We look forward to hearing from you, Kingston!
