A local woman has been arrested and charged after witnesses contacted police about her car idling on a median in central Kingston.
On Thursday, Dec. 14, 2018, police responded to calls from witnesses of a damaged vehicle sitting on top of the centre median at Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard and Brock Street. The vehicle was still running, and the accused woman was sitting in the driver’s seat, Kingston Police said.
The responding officer observed that the accused woman was impaired by alcohol. The woman could barely walk or talk, according to Sgt. Steve Koopman. The woman was arrested and taken to Kingston Police Headquarters where she “vomited several times,” Koopman said in a tweet, and refused to provide a breath sample.
The 26-year-old Kingston woman was charged with impaired driving and failing to provide a breath sample. She was later released with a future court date, and her licence is automatically suspended for 90 days. She will face a one-year suspension if convicted. Additionally, her vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the accused woman will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
