Welcome Home, 1988

welcome, home, kris, kristofferson, vimy barracks, everett, air, force, base, strategic, air, command, kingston, ontarioThe recent filming in Market Square has sent us digging in the vaults for photos of other movies shot in Kingston. In the Whig Standard photographs above, shot by Ian McAlpine in 1988, we see scenes from Welcome Home a military drama that was partially shot in Kingston in August of that year starring Kris Kristofferson. At least 75 Kingstonians appeared as extras in the film. Most of the filming took place at Vimy Barracks which was meant to stand in for the fictional Everett Air Force Base, Strategic Air Command, in upstate New York. Does anyone know which iconic American city Kingston has stood in for in movies filmed here in 1998 and 2000?
