At the movies in Kingston: May 17 edition

Welcome back to ‘At the movies in Kingston.’ This will be the weekend that an assassin named John Wick battles the heroes of the Marvel universe.

Here is what’s new at the Kingston theatres for the week starting Friday, May 17, 2019.

 

Landmark Cinemas:

John Wick: Chapter III is the next installment in the action-packed Keanu Reeves movie series. John Wick is considered the best assassin in the mob world, but now the mob has turned on him. Wick must survive an open contract on his life.

A Dog’s Journey is the continuation in the series of movies based on the popular books. In this outing, a family pet named Bailey tries to connect with his owner’s granddaughter despite the distance between them.

The Intruder is the tale of a homeowner played by Dennis Quaid who just can’t let go of his property after selling it. His obsession will lead to terror for the new homeowners.

Cineplex Odeon:

The Sun Is Also a Star is the story about a girl named Natasha who is practical and believes in facts, not dreams or wishes. Daniel is the good son who always obeys his parents wishes. When Natasha and Daniel meet their perspectives change as they fall in love.

The Saturday morning 10 am Family Favourites is Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse. If you missed this hit film from Christmas, now is your chance to see it on the big screen.

Sunday has the Bolshoi Ballet back at the big screen with the 12:55 showing of the Carmen Suite.

A Dog’s Journey and John Wick: Chapter III are also playing at Cineplex.

The Screening Room:

Red Joan is the story of an English woman who is accused of spying for the Soviet Union. She is charged with passing on classified information including information about nuclear warheads.

Knock Down the House is the story of four women who run for office in the 2018 American midterm elections. The documentary follows their path to politics and the campaign for public office.

Kingston Family Fun World

Kingston Family Fun World Drive-In has all three screens operating this weekend, with John Wick: Chapter III at 9:00 pm and Long Shot at 11:15 pm on Screen 1, Avengers: Endgame at 9:00 pm and Captain Marvel at 11:59 pm on Screen 2, and Pokemon Detective Pikachu at 9:00 pm and Shazam! at 11:00 pm on Screen 3.
