The St. Lawrence II – The Movie
Brigantine Inc. is a non-profit organization here in Kingston. Since it’s birth in 1954, this collective has been teaching young people the fundamental skills of sailing through 6-10 days cruises on Kingston’s tall ship, The St. Lawrence II.
On Saturday, May 31st, Brigantine Inc. will release a documentary about the ship and it’s program. The story follows Francis MacLachlan, the designer of the ship and founder of the sail training program and includes interviews with former captains, crew and volunteers, giving viewers an insight into the benefit of this program and others like it all over the world. The film also includes the history of the Kingston waterfront and its shipyards. You can see the trailer here.
The film will be released at a Gala at the Senior Staff Mess at The Royal Military College from 7pm-11pm. Hors d’oeuvres will be served along with a cash bar and there will be a silent auction. Tickets are $60 and dress is semi formal. All profits from the event will go towards the sail training program. For more information about the gala, go to Brigantine.ca.
