Sudbury Neutrino Observatory

Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, SNOAt Queen’s Archives we are the repository for various Queen’s University Faculty members papers and materials. We are pretty excited that one of those faculty members is Dr. Art McDonald, who, this week, (co-)received the Nobel Prize in Physics for his work demonstrating that neutrinos change identities. The photograph above is of photomultiplier tubes on a geodesic sphere that is 18 metres in diameter. The sphere contains 1,000 tonnes of heavy water and the tubes act as the eyes of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO). Congratulations to Dr. McDonald.
