Registration for City of Kingston swimming lessons opens today

The City of Kingston has announced that they will be running swimming lesson programming at the Boys & Girls Club West End Pool, located at 1300 Bath Road.
The lessons will begin on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2020, with registration opening today, Thursday, Oct 8, 2020 at noon.
According to a release from the City, preschool classes, up to Swim Kids Level 4, will be taught with parents or guardians in the water.
“We appreciate how important water safety and swim skills are and look forward to once again providing these opportunities for the community,” notes Jaclyn Grimmon, Manager, Recreation Programs.

In response to COVID-19 restrictions and physical distancing measures, the City will be offering a modified swim lesson program. Modifications include:
- All lessons will be taught at a distance by qualified instructors to allow participants and staff to maintain a physical distance from others.
- Participants registered in Preschool levels up to Swim Kids Level 4 will be required to have a parent or caregiver (16 years and older) in the water with them for physical contact and safety purposes.
- Limiting the number of people that accompany swimmers to one adult in the water or on deck. Designated viewing space is very limited and those who choose to view a lesson must wear a face covering and maintain a physical distance from others.
- Limited equipment will be used and will be sanitized between each use.
Full COVID-19 precautions and admission procedures can be found on the swimming lessons page of the City of Kingston’s website.
