POLL: Kingston’s best golf course

It really is, finally, starting to feel like summer. And although there most certainly have been some hardcore golfers on the greens for several weeks now, it sure feels like golf season is here — so if you haven’t hit the links yet, now is the time!

What makes a great golf club? Why do you golf where you golf? Do you go to the closest club for convenience? Or maybe you judge your golf club based more on the 19th hole than the other 18.

We have quite a few 18-hole options right in Kingston: Cataraqui and The Landings being the most central, but Garrison and Colonnade aren’t much of a hike. You can get on the Wolfe Island Ferry for a round at Riverfront on the south part of the island. In Loyalist Township, you’ll find Amherstview and Loyalist. If you live outside the city, or don’t mind the drive, Napanee and Gananoque have popular golf courses just on the outskirts of town, or there’s Camden Braes, Rivendell, Green Acre, and Inverary.

It’s been a few years since Kingstonist conducted such a poll, and the golf landscape has changed slightly in that time. After several years of legal issues, including falling into receivership, Westbrook Golf Club appears to not be open this year. Last year, the Glen Lawrence Golf Club (which was the winner of Kingstonist’s polls on this matter in 2011 and 2013) was sold, with members being told the course wouldn’t reopen in 2019.

Now, it’s over to you! Pick your favourite in the poll, and let us know why in the comments!
