#ygkChallenge: Plan a Local Family Day

Family Day 2016, Kingston, OntarioThe #ygkChallenge is an ongoing series where we dare you to be different, resolve to be better, and or do something awesome in support of our beloved community. Each week, Kingstonist establishes a new, ambitious or quirky goal, encouraging you to step out of your comfort zone and do something great, and hopefully a little out of the ordinary. By taking part in this community-wide initiative, we hope to make Kingston (and the world) a slightly better place to live, work and play.

This week’s #ygkChallenge encourages you to:

Plan a Local Family Day. A variety of fun, family-friendly events is being offered in ygk this Monday for Family Day. This week we challenge you to make plans to participate in local events with your loved ones. Early risers? Start the day off by busting a move at The Tett Centre’s Day Breaker Dance Party from 6:30am-8:30am. Then check out the array of active Family Day activities offered by City of Kingston facilities including family swims, free swimming lessons and family fitness classes. Little Cat Conservation Area will have skating from 9am-4:30pm on Kingston’s largest natural skating rink. There will be a fire in the warming hut, hot chocolate and skates are available for rent. More of an indoorsy kind of family? The Museum of Healthcare will be running its very popular Teddy Bear Hospital for kids aged 3-8, and The Kingston Family YMCA will celebrate with swimming, family zumba and family pickle ball. Of course there is always the option of going for a skate at Market Square, enjoying lunch in a locally owned restaurant and checking out one of our many galleries and museums. There are so many choices right in our own backyard. What are you planning to do this Family Day?

Join us in completing this week’s #ygkchallenge by liking it on Facebook and/or re-Tweeting it on Twitter. By liking and sharing, you’re not only committing to doing something great, but you’re also helping us spread the word and hopefully encouraging others to participate.
