Nick Ferrio: Half The Time

Over the holidays I spent many hours scouring the Internet in search of new and exciting finds from the local scene.  Specifically, my hunt was geared towards unearthing fresh local sounds and creative visuals, both of which tend to be somewhat elusive online.  If you’re producing this sort of content and would like to see it featured on our site, please get in touch with us.

Kingston is undeniably spoiled thanks to it being a destination for touring musicians, and while I make every attempt to show my support to the artists I enjoy, I don’t get out as often as I would like.  As the spouse of a full-time musician, there’s never a shortage of invites to attend local shows, but of course time and my pocketbook deter taking in everything that comes my way.  This is where projects like the Skeleton Park Community Songbook help bridge the gap, as such accessible content affords an effortless introduction to talented folks you may have only heard of.

Recently I came across the Luso Sessions, a series that showcases intimate performances by artists who’re passing through Kingston.  The project was created by Christina Mac, a student in her final year of St. Lawrence College’s Music and Digital Media program.  With Christina’s permission, I am extremely excited to share the performance that first caught my eye, which features Nick Ferrio performing Half The Time at The Grad Club. While this video was shot last October, it’s specifically relevant today as Nick will be returning to Kingston this evening to open for Wax Mannequin in The Living Room at The Mansion.  Hit play below and let Nick take you into the weekend. If you like what you hear, perhaps I’ll see you at The Mansion this evening!
